Class Goals

Our focus is to give children the opportunity to learn through play in a loving, caring environment. Children develop social and language skills as they learn about their own feelings and those of their friends, sharing, taking turns and resolving conflicts peacefully. Days are filled with busy exploration, investigation and discoveries. Children express themselves through art, music and movement. They develop math and number skills using age-appropriate materials to organize, sort, count, build and sequence. In the Blue Room children explore science as they learn about weather, cooking, nature and seasonal activities. They develop motor skills and coordination while running, jumping, hopping, skipping, throwing and catching at the park. Children use their growing literacy skills during shared readings, reading groups and journal writing. A print-rich environment helps to foster a love of reading and provides the children with opportunities to practice literacy skills in real-life situations. Teachers guide children’s experiences through books, stories, games, projects and songs based on curriculum themes in both whole group and small group settings.
