Class Goals

The Green Room is designed to guide the youngest children's learning in a safe, nurturing environment. Teachers support growing independence and help children develop self-confidence by providing opportunities for classroom jobs such as putting away materials, setting up snack and pouring milk. They guide children in developing the social skills needed to identify their own feelings, share, take turns, enter in play with other children and to resolve conflicts peacefully. Additionally, the children’s ability to communicate is enhanced by developing active listening and expressive language skills. Children also enjoy free play with blocks and in dramatic play, allowing their creativity and imagination to flourish. Teachers facilitate opportunities for children to engage in reading, listening and speaking using singing, poems and finger plays.
